Laser Toolkit

Six practical calculators for quick laser-planning estimates. Units and formulas are explicit, and every result is calculated locally in your browser.

Planning estimates, not process guarantees. These idealized calculations do not account for beam profile, optical losses, machine dynamics, material response, or safety controls. Verify settings on your equipment and follow your established laser safety procedures.
01

Pulse energy

Convert average optical power and pulse rate into energy per pulse, with an optional ideal peak-power estimate.

02

Spot energy density

Estimate nominal pulse energy per unit area using a uniform circular spot model.

03

Pulse overlap

Estimate center spacing and geometric overlap between pulses along the scan direction.

04

Hatch overlap

Compare cross-scan hatch spacing with spot diameter using a geometric center-to-center model.

05

Raster time

Estimate ideal marked-motion time for a rectangular raster fill across one or more passes.

06

Power / speed scaling

Estimate the power required to preserve nominal line energy when changing scan speed.

Core relationships: energy = power ÷ rate, spacing = speed ÷ rate, and overlap = 1 − spacing ÷ diameter. Signed negative overlap is reported as a gap, not clamped.
